Brazil coach Dunga has confirmed that captain Neymar will start for his country against Honduras on Wednesday.
The Barcelona forward was a late arrival in Porto Alegre on Monday due to his Champions League final appearance on Saturday and missed Brazil’s Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour clash with Mexico on Sunday.
“Neymar will play,” said Dunga.
“This is our last game of preparation [before the Copa America], we have to test the players who will start the competition and the others we will need.
“We have to rely on the whole squad because there might be injuries or suspension, so everyone needs to be well prepared.”
Dunga went on to dismiss suggestions Neymar can lead Brazil to the Copa America alone, insisting the team must always take precedent over its star performers.
“No individual can win without a strong collective. At the World Cup, the teams that only had one player did not win anything.
“Now, it is only natural that those different players add a lot. A strong collective supports the individual, and they too have to work for the collective.”
Dunga refused to be drawn on who will make his starting line-up on Wednesday, but received a boost with Robinho returning to the training ground after suffering a knee injury that kept him out of the 2-0 victory over Mexico.
“Danilo is recovering and having treatment,” added Dunga after the Real Madrid-bound full-back suffered a heavy challenge in that match. Monaco’s Fabinho replaced Danilo at Allianz Parque and now looks set to start at right-back.
“Fabinho played very well in Sao Paulo, despite his youth.”
Internacional left-back Geferson is hoping to make his full debut in his home stadium the Beira-Rio, but Dunga insists sentiment won’t impact upon his selection.
“In just a few matches as a professional he has shown a high level of performance, playing very well in the Copa Libertadores.
“Now it will depend on the game. I cannot say if he plays in his home city or not. I have to think about the national team. If during the match there is opportunity, let's play him.”
