RCCG Hosts Special Prayer Summit For Emerging Leaders

As Nigerians await the much-publicized
promise of change and transformation by
the Buhari-led administration, some
eminent Christian leaders have stressed the
need for concerted prayer efforts to support
the newly inaugurated government in order
for them to receive wisdom, strength and
divine assistance to surmount the numerous
socio-economic problems it has inherited
from the immediate past administration.
It has become particularly necessary in
view of the fact that Nigerians are highly
expectant and eagerly waiting for a
complete overhaul in every sector,
especially in the fight against corruption,
the assurance of adequate security and
restoration of peace and financial
stability to the land.
Speaking at a press parley in Lagos on
Monday, Pastor Johnson Odesola, Special
Assistant on Admin and Personnel to
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer
of The Redeemed Christian Church of
God, argued that although Nigeria is
blessed with men and women of
integrity who have the acumen to lead
the nation out of its current moral and
economic quagmire, the place of prayer
cannot be underestimated because there
is a spiritual dimension to the problems
plaguing Nigeria and it is only when God
intervenes that there can be true,
thorough and lasting solutions.
Odesola postulated that now that
Nigerians have freely expressed their
right in the just-concluded general
elections that brought to power President
Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof.
Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), there is need to
take the bull by the horn, hence the
decision of the leadership of The
Redeemed Christian Church of God to
organize special programmes involving
prayers for leaders and “emerging
leaders” at the various helm of affairs:
political and business.
“This meeting is organized mainly to
inform the general public and leaders in
different sections of the country of the
coming special prayer service for leaders
and emerging leaders in the country and
what it is set to achieve”, said Odesola.
The cleric announced that the
programme, which is billed to hold on
Sunday, 7 th June, will be led and
conducted by Pastor Adeboye at the
National Headquarters of the Church,
Ebute-Meta, Lagos, by 8am.
While expressing confidence in God and
in His Word, Odesola assured that the
special programme will lead to the
country’s rebirth and freedom.
It would be recalled that for some years
now, Pastor Adeboye has not ceased to
devote ample time to lead his
congregation in prayer, especially as it
relates to the peace and prosperity of
Nigeria. While expressing deep concern
over the nation’s travails, the cleric once
prayed that God would trouble those who
trouble the nation.
Speaking further, Odesola stressed that
the programme will afford the church
opportunity to pray for the new
government in order for them to succeed
and lead the country to greater heights.
He said: “Nigerians, especially those who
know the efficacy of prayer must not fail
to support the leadership of the country
in prayer especially at such a crucial
time in the history of the country when
expectations and demands of the citizens
from their political leaders are so high.
“Nigeria has just passed through a major
peaceful elections and a new
government has just been inaugurated.
This is the dawn of a new era. For all
things to be in place and for the nation
to move forward, we need to thank the
Lord for what He has done and put the
future of the nation before Him. With
Him, our future will be secured.”
“A lot of hurdles were surmounted
recently through the untiring and selfless
prayers offered to God on behalf of
Nigeria. This is why the General
Overseer of the Redeemed Christian
Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye,
has organized the special prayer session
for leaders and aspiring leaders in all
sectors. The peace we are enjoying now
must be sustained and that is through
prayers.”
Continuing, the cleric added:
“Leadership can only succeed when the
ultimate Leader, the Almighty God, is
fully involved; hence this service is to
help fully prepare all our new leaders in
the task of leading us to greater heights.
“Nigeria is in need of God’s intervention
in every area. Our greatest challenge is
in the area of insecurity, unemployment,
and lack of basic infrastructure. It is the
believe of the church that these
challenges are not beyond our capacity
as a nation but the absence of good and
effective leadership has left us behind
those we ought to be ahead of.
“At a time like these, when people are
highly expectant, only the help of God
can enable the leadership meet the
yearnings of the followers in reaching
the goals ahead of us,”
While alluding to Biblical injunction in
Mark 14:27, the cleric said that the role
of leaders in nation
building today cannot be left to chance.
He warned that if leaders failed in their
responsibilities, both the present and
future generations will suffer the
consequences
Also present at the parley, were some of
the leaders of the church namely Pastor
Goke Aniyeloye an Assistant Pastor-in-
charge of Province 40, Ogba, Lagos;
Pastor Femi Olunuga; Pastor Kurchi
Jonathan; Pastor Seun Adebayo; Pastor
Emmanuel; Pastor Juwon and Pastor Bisi
Akande.
