Anglican Bishop Prays For Buhari

The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu,
the Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor has
expressed optimism that the new
administration under the watch of President
Muhammadu Buhari will deliver on the
campaign promises, though there does not
seem to be any obvious difference between
the new ruling All Progressive Party (APC)
and the deposed Peoples Democratic Party
he (PDP).
The Bishop who stated this during a
Eucharistic service of confirmation,
admission and induction for Nekede
parish at Holy Trinity Church, Nekede in
Owerri West local government of Imo
State urged for the prayers of the
faithful for the grace of God to be with
the leadership of the administration in
order to bring the needed succour to
Nigerians.
He said the President needs the special
favour to be able to surmount the
myriad of challenges facing the country
else the new APC administration could
become another phase.
. President Buhari he said seem however
poised to meet these problems once he is
able to act out the spirit of his ‘I belong
to everybody and I belong to nobody’.
Bishop Okorafor also urged Christians to
pursue the unity and peace of the nation
starting from their various families. He
noted that the service was unique
especially among the orthodox Churches
as they celebrated the mystery of Trinity.
He emphasized the need for Christians
to imbibe the unity between the
Godhead, the Son and Holy Ghost
stressing that in all situations they acted
as one entity with none opposing the
other.
The Bishop made particular reference to
the Gospel of Christ as recorded by John
14 verses 8 &9 where Philip had sought
to know the Father and His response that
anyone that has seen Him has seen the
Father.
Bishop Okorafor advised that as true
images of God the Father, Son and Holy
Ghost they should eschew bitterness,
rancour, disunity and exhibit love for
one another. He also advised them to
emulate this togetherness of the Triune
God not only in their services to the
Church but in their various communities
and families. The Bishop opined that it
was only in an environment of
togetherness would there be
development and progress in the society.
He contended that the days of ignorance
were over for believers and non-
believers stressing that Christ would no
longer plead forgiveness at His next
coming and urged them to live within
God’s status. He said they should always
be conscious of the fact that at the end of
their earthly life, their aspiration would
be to make heaven and as such advised
them to avoid being distracted by
mundane things of the world.
